Film Program Opportunity

Hey, got this email in my Inbox and thought I would share it with you guys. Perhaps something to keep in mind for the future, after high school.

=======================================

Kaleidoscope, a film production program for youth is currently accepting applications and scheduling interviews (July 20 – 24) for its upcoming 16-week film program (start August 10, end December 4, 2009).

We’re looking for youth who have something to say and want to express themselves using film. This is a hands-on program and youth are taught everything required to make their own professional short films. We also pay them an allowance of $8/hr for 30 hours weekly.

The creative process calls for the use of communication, teamwork, project management and numerous other employability skills. It is this direct application of skills and their continued development and refinement which provides so much value to our youth. These skills will help them gain and maintain work, as well as help them to understand their place in their community. We greatly appreciate your referrals to our program.

Kaleidoscope participants this past year actively explored their community and cultural roots through:

exploring homelessness through the eyes of those living on the streets
showing how violence in schools affects the community around them
giving youth an informative view on the issue of dropping out of school
examining the impact of drug abuse on the parents of addicts
providing a dramatic treatment on the influence of gangs

We’re not just building skills, we’re building character for life and work
